Project Safeguard's 3rd Annual Valentine's Fling was an entertaining event which allowed the organization to raise over $15,000 in donations. KOSI 101's Denise Plante was back as the emcee and The Nacho Men played as never before.

The night started with welcoming remarks by Kimberlee Jones, Director of Development and Denise Plante, from KOSI 101. Then The Nacho Men took the stage and played classic tunes for most of the evening. As they have done in the past, the Nacho Men had the ability to get most of the guests onto the dance floor.

At 8:00 p.m., Cindy Engel was given the microphone to perform the live auction. There were 11 items auctioned off, including a giant Nestle Crunch Bar, two Nuggets Basketball tickets, an opportunity to sing with the Nacho Men, dinner at Buca di Beppo and a stay at the Magnolia Hotel, a 6-day African photo safari for two, a Mazatlan condo for two families or five couples, a stay at the Hyatt Regency in Denver, two tickets anywhere in the U.S. on Southwest Airlines, a Scottsdale getaway, and a giant bottle of champagne. In total, the live auction raised close to $14,000 for Project Safeguard. The raffle drawing was performed at 10 p.m. by KOSI 101's Denise Plante.

Denise has been so supportive of Project Safeguard that she was given an award "For Your Generous Contribution to the Success of Project Safeguard's Valentine's Fling 2007."  When Denise received the award, she explained to the audience "that it is truly her pleasure to help such an amazing organization".  She said she was pleased to be a part of it for the last three years and hopes to help in the future.

The mission of Project Safeguard is to provide safety, support, advocacy and justice for battered women and their children to achieve freedom from domestic violence. Project Safeguard is committed to achieving justice for abused women. It is the only nonprofit organization in the Denver area exclusively dedicated to assisting victims of domestic violence through the arduous judicial system. Project Safeguard seeks to empower every woman to achieve self-sufficiency, so she can live her life free from abuse.

One in three women are victims of domestic violence. In 2006, Project Safeguard helped 15,000 women and their children. On average, 35 women and children are killed by their intimate partner in Colorado every year. The donations made this evening will change lives. $10 enables one advocacy phone call. $25 enables one temporary protection order clinic. $50 enables one permanent protection order clinic. $75 enables one attorney facilitated divorce or custody clinic. $100 enables court support provided by a legal advocate. $500 enables printed materials, technical support, supplies and training.
