Steve Forbes was the last speaker in the 2003-2004
Distinguished Lecture Series.
|
by Blacktie Staff.
Having uber-businessman Steve Forbes close out the 2003-2004 Denver Distinguished Lecture Series was a "capital" idea. Who better to talk about dollars and sense to young aspiring business people than Mr. Forbes.
This was the first year that the lecture series moved from 4 events to 3. The enthusiastic reception to this format and the caliber of speakers makes it seem like it was a good move indeed.
As those who have been following Blacktie for awhile know, Junior Achievement does a fantastic job of educating over 70,000 students in Colorado. Most economic surveys of the American populace indicates that there is a woeful ignorance of matters economic.
In fact, Steve Forbes joked about this when he mentioned that people believe that there must be a clause in the U.S. Constitution that guarantees a positive rate of return when a citizen buys stocks.
The Denver Distinuished Lecture Series has had a long and successful run. If you haven't participated in the past, this is one series not to be missed.
Even better is to be a Gold Sponsor. The Gold Sponsoship entitles you to a private reception before the public speech. Participants not only get an up close and personal "pre-speech" but also have an opportunity to get their picture taken with the guest speaker. All of that pales in comparison to helping students gain a better understanding of the American business system.
