Description

The Denver Press Club will honor Marty Baron, executive editor of The Washington Post and who led The Boston Globe team that won a Pulitzer Prize (as shown in the Oscar-winning film "Spotlight") with its most prestigious prize, the Damon Runyon Award.

The film was a powerful story about determined reporters at the Globe uncovering the Boston Catholic church's sexual abuse scandal. Actor Liev Schreiber portrayed Baron.

The award is named after Damon Runyon, a legendary columnist and early DPC member, and is given annually to a journalist of national renown.

Individual tickets cost $125 for members of the Denver Press Club, which includes a ticket to a VIP reception from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Club before the banquet. The cost of the banquet is $150 for nonmembers, plus an additional $25 for the VIP reception.
