Have You Met?

Bubbly isn’t perhaps the right word to describe Terri Fisher, but it does seem she is always effervescent!
And some of that might have been inherited from her father, and certainly her love of music was. Her father was a promotional genius, traveling the world and bring new products to the marketplace. He also served as President of Don Kirshner Concerts, one of the largest concert promoters back in the 70’s and 80’s.
Terri started 5 Star 10 years ago and has had a blast. Promoting artists ten years ago was a little different than doing it today. Ace Young, who later showed up on American Idol came in for artist development. There was no “You Tube”, and web sites weren’t as developed as they are now. So they actually shopped cassette tapes. (How many of you know what those are?)
Of course in the aftermath of 9/11, there wasn’t a lot of bands and partying taking place and rightfully so. Luckily Terri is patient and tenacious and her “can do” attitude not only saw her through but helped her lay the plans for expansion and growth.
Prior to starting 5 Star she was working at the Sheraton West. All the bands playing Red Rocks would stay there. Terri found herself not only doing HR, but security and more and more. This eventually ended up with 80 hours or more a week. Terri said enough because she wanted to spend more time with her family.
She met Al Fisher (same last name) on a blind date, and the rest as they say is history.
Like many successful people, Terri believes in giving back. She was thrilled to participate in the Denver Hospice’s Mask Project and have her mask selected to adorn a poster promoting the project. Of major importance to her is the ability to promote through her own email list the causes and nonprofits that she works with (see list below in Q and A.) Terri is really passionate about working with children.
Clearly this has been a 5 Star year for Terri Fisher.

What has been your biggest challenge in life and job so far?
My biggest challenge is balancing the responsibilities of family and career while living up to the title of “Super Agent - Super Mom”.   My Every day challenge is to manage being the best at all I do with my husband, family, friends, clients and entertainers.

My personal accomplishments include …
Meeting my husband Al Fisher (my maiden name was Terri Fisher) and having my fantastic family and celebrating marriage, success and happiness.

What do you do with any "leisure time" you have?
I love to travel!  Already this year I’ve been to Hawaii, Atlantis, Orlando (twice) and Las Vegas.  I love going to dinner with my husband and family, nearly every night.  I also love to boat and water ski, play putt-putt golf (not very skillful at the real game), going to water parks, taking care of all the mommy responsibilities, gardening and cooking (when there is time) reading, going to the movies, sending hundreds of Christmas cards (which really is quite the project), and delivering over 400 gifts every year, going to lunch with my special friends, taking too many photos and jumping on our trampoline.

Who is the most interesting person you have ever met and why?
My Dad Arnold Fisher, a genius for sure… He was the ultimate marketing genius and traveled the world where he took many products /services to the marketplace.  Toys, to cosmetics, high tech things like the first cell phones and microwaves.  He enjoyed being in the entertainment industry.  Dad was the President / CEO for Don Kirshner’s Rock Concerts in New York for several years.  He worked with Roy Clark, Kenny Rogers, and many other celebrity stars.  He was on stage with Frank Sinatra at Caesars and he brought talent to The London Palladium.  He knew everyone in the music and record industry.   He was an all around amazing person.

Who are your hero’s?
My husband who is kind, generous, supportive, flexible, optimistic, positive and willing to do whatever it is necessary in allowing me to chase my dreams.  And, he puts up with me.
Princess Diana who was so beautiful, kind and giving…she gave her all too so many.  I have always admired everything about this fabulous individual.  And, wished her life could have been so much more contented.

What is something that was instilled in you from the time you were young?
Never give up and “never say never”…To be enthusiastic, entertaining and full of life and energy.

Do you have a favorite quote, saying or motto that has helped guide you through life?
Corinthians 13    “Love is patient, love is kind.  It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud”…..And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. “But the greatest of these is love”.

My business mottos which were developed from life experiences and I tell everyone to:
“HAVE A MAGICAL DAY;” and now to “HAVE A 5 STAR DAY;    I always “Hire the Smile”;  because I thrive on working with enthusiastic entertainers and look for the smiles from my many cheerful clients.

In any of your global travels, what country, city, place has intrigued you the most?
New England, Boston Vermont, New Hampshire, in the fall, the trees, Halloween, the spirit of the season an amazing expereince. The Parthenon in the Athenian Acropolis,  dedicated to the Greek goddess Athena. With the exception of the Great Pyramid in Egypt, the Parthenon of Athens has probably received more attention from archaeologists, historians, architects, painters and poets than any other structure on earth.

What are you most looking forward to in the future?
Continuing my life long journey with my husband, staying healthy, watching my children grow and prosper, being part of my eleven grandchildren’s lives, traveling, spending more time with close friends, and to have continued success with 5 Star.

How do you want to be remembered by future generations?
My legacy is yet to be written.  I feel that I have just begun my journey down the yellow brick road of my life. I’m not sure what the future holds for me, but I am certain that my voyage will result in nothing short of remarkable destiny. I would like to be remembered for being a good, true friend!
For being thoughtful and giving as one day I would like to be able to apply my enthusiasm and passion in support of the many charitable organizations and to become an advocate or a spokesperson for the scores of children’s non profits …

What kind of formal events do you like to attend?  Any and all…Blacktie events, charity events, galas, theater, I love it all!

Who is the most interesting celebrity you have ever met?   I loved meeting Jimmy Stewart, Mark Harmon, Tatum O’Neil (she had just won her Oscar for Paper Moon) and her dad Ryan O’Neil.

If your life were a movie, whom would you want to play your part?  Sandra Bullock! My friends and family said that the character she portrayed in the movie “Blindside” was so me. Hmmmmm…

Do you have any pets? Two cats – “Oils” and “Daisy” and lots of fish.

What word describes you best?  Enthusiastic and passionate, couldn’t sum this up in one word.

What was your first job?  McDonald’s on 38th & Wadsworth.  I was on the All American Team as best window girl, best fries and best shakes!!

My last job?  I opened the Sheraton West as the original Human Resources Director and worked as the Human Resources and Training Director for ITT Sheraton Corporation at the Sheraton Denver Airport (which is now a Sonic Burger) until they left Colorado in 1991.

What trait do you most deplore in others?  People who are lazy, non-social and/or snobbish,

Favorite food?   I love Italian food and great salads!!

What is your current state of mind?   Excited and overwhelmed with passion, desire and enthusiasm and wish there were more hours to accomplish all the goals and achievements in both my business and family life.

Favorite books / writers?  Dean Koontz and Danielle Steele – they are both total opposite sides of the spectrum.

What are your greatest business accomplishments?
In 2010, I set a goal to become more active in my business by being visible and getting involved in the community, charities and with the many organizations I belong to.  I also wondered what it would take be a “mover and shaker”.  This is a unique challenge as a small business owner without riding the wave of a large corporation or other individuals.  Entering my tenth year of business, I achieved several of my goals this year along with being honored and recognized including:
Continuing a successful business and continuing to thrive in these challenged economic times
Being part of the Mask Project for Denver Hospice and having my Mask on a poster and bringing awareness to this amazing organization
Winning the Small Business Person of the Year for the Metro North Chamber of Commerce,
Being an award finalist as Business Woman of the Year for the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Metro Denver
Winning an ISES Award for best corporate event under $50,000,
Being nomintated for Outstanding Business Woman of the Year in the Denver Business Journal.
Successfully getting on committees and boards and being involved with 15 organizations
Staying involved with several non-profits:  Denver Hospice, Denver Center Alliance, North Metro Community Services, Tennyson Center for Children, The Adoption Exchange, Foster Care, Janet’s Camp, Kempe Foundation, Bal Swan, Ronald McDonald and more
Keeping my husband, Al Fisher, and my children happy and sane through all the above

Congratulations on your wonderful comments - you are an awesome lady & I don't know how you do all your do with family & events - You are the best at whatever you do.
