Each year hundreds of charity events are held to raise money for local nonprofit organizations. Countless hours are devoted to the fundraising efforts and the tireless work the event chairs and volunteers put in to these events is often overshadowed by the large amounts of money they raise.

There is always an unspoken thank you given to event chairs in the form of successful events and breaking fundraising goals, but there has yet to be an event that says “thank you” to those who pull off these amazing events.

Saks Fifth Avenue and teamed up to host the “Charity Chair Salute 2005,” on March 29th, to specifically honor those who head up the fundraising efforts.

The event evolved from a showing of evening attire to a luncheon when Saks Fifth Avenue, who underwrote the entire event, teamed up with Elizabeth Byrnes Crony, President of Blacktie-Colorado. The upscale retailer wanted a unique way to honor and acknowledge those who lead the fundraising efforts and thus the fashion show and luncheon in honor of the 2005 Charity Chairs was born.

Guests drove in from Colorado Springs, Evergreen and Boulder and in the end one hundred people representing over 50 nonprofits attended the luncheon and fashion show.

Saks Fifth Avenue's General Manager Kay Cline welcomed the crowd before the fashion presentation. “This is a lunch and fashion show in your honor,” she told the intimate crowd. “You get to enjoy the lunch, instead of putting it on.”

The fashion preview showcased the Signatures of Evening Collection. Dom Nazaro, Director of Signatures of Evening collection, flew in from New York to present the glamorous trunk show of twenty-five gowns, which ranged from fun and flirty cocktail dresses to full-length dramatic ball gowns.

Models wearing the signature collection dresses and jewels from designer Cindy Everett, graced the catwalk, while guests enjoyed a sit down luncheon of fruit salad, salmon with asparagus and a decadent brownie for desert, provided by Bistro Boys Catering. Saks and Blacktie toasted the "honorees,” the 2005 chairs with a champagne toast.

It's important that all of those amazing and outstanding individuals, who contribute their heart and souls, as well as their time to nonprofit work, are continually thanked for their contributions. This luncheon was just a small token of appreciation to the chairs and volunteers of the many nonprofits in Colorado.
