Can you think of a better way to raise money for the Brandon Center, a shelter for women and children who are victims of Domestic Abuse than one amazing fashion show? Well, Max Martinez of MAX and Volunteers of America thought it is just right.

Gathering together some of Denver’s finest to honor the work the Brandon Center does for its women and children, like offering 90 beds, a large dining area, full kitchen, childcare area and a playground, it was one fabulous celebration.

In support of this great cause, auctioneer Ami Cusack asked attendees to bid top dollar on items like a beautiful fur coat donated by MAX, a trip for two to Las Vegas, an amazing diamond Cartier watch, and dinner for six in Aspen Colorado, including hotel and shopping. Each winner walked away with a great prize, and a great feeling of hope for their part in contributing to the work of the Brandon Center.

During the VIP cocktail hour guests mixed and mingled as they sample hors de’ oeuvres by Three Tomatoes Catering while sipping cocktails from the cash bar. After the hour or so long meet and greet, guests were escorted to the upper level of the Sherman Street Event Center for the fashion show.

Jim White of Volunteers of America emceed the event. He gave a brief description of the services the money raised that evening would be supporting; services like individual sleeping rooms for each family, a children’s program, group support, and individual counseling on topics such as self esteem, domestic violence, parenting skills, even an on-site GED tutoring program. After which he turned the mike over to Lisa Speaker and Andi Smith event Co-chairs, who thanked all the guests and who thanked Max Martinez of MAX for all his support.

WOW is the only way to describe to amazing fashion show that ensued. Beautiful models strutted down the runway in beautiful spring 2006 fashions. The audience got an eyeful as the models showed the newest looks in swim wear. Each look was put together by the MAX team and overseen by Max Martinez himself with just the right mix of delicate, sexy, fun, and flirty.

The show was accompanied by groovy beats put together by DJ Juan Chamie. Segments of the show featured looks from casual sports wear and active wear to suits and evening gowns. The fashion show provided the audience a good idea of the looks that will be available for the spring.

Dancing anyone? After the show, DJ Juan Chamie mixed dance beats for the guests. The dancing and grooving lasted well into the evening, a great way to end a great event.
