The 19th Annual Fantasy Ball, "Manhattan Magic! Celebrating Small Hearts with Great Expectations” was a smashing success this past Friday, November 17.

Held at the always-lovely Seawell Ballroom at the DCPA complex, the event featured a wonderful silent auction, with items like a one-hour face painter for a child’s birthday party or a Jake Plummer and John Lynch signed jersey. The live auction featured a one week stay in Cancun and a beautiful 18-karat gold, topaz, citrine and diamond necklace and earrings. Entertainment was provided by world renowned trumpet player David Hooten and the Jazz Puppies.

Funds raised at The Fantasy Ball are used for the recruitment of families for children who are waiting to be adopted into permanent homes. The proceeds enable The Adoption Exchange to provide monetary and educational support to families who otherwise would not be able to afford adoption.

Founded in 1983, The Adoption Exchange provides the connection between families who are hoping to adopt and children who wait in foster care for a permanent home. The Adoption Exchange is not an adoption agency. It is an organization that provides services to families and children on behalf of dozens of adoption agencies. When an agency is unable to locate a family for a waiting child, the agency utilizes the services of The Adoption Exchange to help find a family. Since it’s beginning, The Adoption Exchange has helped over 4,500 children find permanent homes. More than 118,000 children across the country are waiting to be adopted, living in a series of foster and group homes for an average of four years, hoping for the stability and love of a permanent family.
