Rocky Mountain Adventist Healthcare Foundation (RMAHF) is a nonprofit, faith-based fundraising organization dedicated to providing financial support to Adventist Health System - Rocky Mountain Region, thereby helping to facilitate and improve healthcare for the people of our community. They are committed to caring for those in need - particularly the sick, the injured and the elderly - through financial support of all their healing facilities.
Each year RMAHF hosts a black-tie gala to both raise funds for the hospital system and to bestow the Henry M. Porter Award upon a group or individual for outstanding dedication to the Denver community. The 2006 Heart of Hearts Gala celebrates 26 years of gala history.
This year the Henry M. Porter Awards went to the following organizations:
Clinica Campesina: this clinic serves families and individuals with a special focus on low income and medically underserved populations. Avista Adventist Hospital partners with Clinica Campesina to provide a number of services including OB care to ensure that every person, regardless of income, will have access to high quality medical care.
Yellow Ribbon, Suicide Prevention Program: this community-based organization uses a universal public health approach that educates adults, professionals and youth on suicide awareness and prevention. Littleton Adventist Hospital has partnered with Yellow Ribbon to help save countless lives. The program is now worldwide and continues to
grow and reach youth with help and comfort.
Parker Fire and Safety Foundation: this foundation is set up to educate citizens in basic emergency medical care, which enables citizens to become an integral part of the lifesaving team. Parker Adventist Hospital, in partnership with the Parker Fire Safety Foundation, is dedicated to the support and education of the public in life safety and
accident prevention in order to reduce injuries and save lives.
Kids Alive: this program serves children six to 16 by helping them cope with the trauma of a parent's diagnosis of cancer by providing a secure and healthy environment in which they can express their feelings. Porter Adventist Hospital remains the only organization in the Denver/front range that helps support the Kids Alive Support Group.
These organizations, along with the hospitals, have worked hard to make an impact and difference in our communities. As each organization was presented with the award you could truly feel the gratitude from the guests for what they are providing for our community. The organizations were honored with the award they had received and committed to continuing the great work they are doing.
After the award ceremony the guests were entertained by the melodic sounds of Al Jarreau. His timeless music was a great way to end the evening and provide guests with an opportunity to really relax and enjoy themselves after a heart filled evening.
