The Chanda Plan Foundation is helping the disabled community in Denver live a more comfortable and fruitful life through alternative medicine and treatments. Started in 2006 by Chanda and Crystal Hinton, this foundation is making a huge difference in the lives of the people receiving the treatments. These treatments are offered to help patients manage their pain through acupuncture, massage therapy and other alternative therapies. Most of these therapies are not covered by insurance and can be quite costly, but that’s where The Chanda Plan Foundation comes in. They are offering these therapies to their participants for a discount or for no cost at all. This is a life-changing and enriching experience for all those involved.
The second annual People to Know event, held April 1, was a celebration of the accomplishments made during the past year. The crowd was excited to be together and had a great time getting reacquainted. There were a number of restaurants that offered their support by donating yummy appetizers for the guests to snack on. Zolo brought the biggest bowl of fresh guacamole I have ever seen, while The Avenue Grill made crustinis with goat cheese and vegetables by hand. To top it all off there was a great spread for dessert, chocolate fondue. Who could pass up dipping cookies, angel food cake, strawberries, bananas and marshmallows into silky, flowing chocolate? It was, by far, the busiest table for the evening.
As guests milled around, looking at the silent auction items and eating dinner, Zebra Junction and Something Underground entertained them with great music. Magician Eric Mead amazed the crowd. The emcee for the evening was Animal Planet's Dr. Kevin Fitzgerald. He started by getting on stage and performing with Something Underground. In addition to being a great vet, he’s also passionate about being a stand-up comic, which came across as he made the audience laugh. To keep the laughs coming, Last Comic Standing winner, Josh Blue, was the headlining entertainment of the evening.
Overall, the evening was a time to celebrate accomplishments and look forward to future undertakings. For more information visit www.iamtheplan.com
