Father’s Day 2007 was a HOT one, but the heat did not stop people from coming out and enjoying themselves at the 23rd annual St. Joseph Hospital Foundation Stadium Stampede, held once again at INVESCO Field.
This beautiful day brought out runners & walkers of all abilities. Some were there to win, some to just finish, but it could be concluded that all were there to have a good time for a great cause.
The race was broken down into several categories :
Kaiser Permanente 5K Run: Voted Colorado’s Best 5K run by the readers of Colorado Runner. This event was open to runners of all abilities. The top 5 men and women were awarded cash prizes.
St. Joseph Hospital Volunteers 5K Walk: This event was open to all walkers.
Exempla Healthcare 1K Kid’s Fun Run: This event was open to all kids 12 and under as well as their families.
Huff ‘N Puff Senior 1K Challenge: This was a special event open to patients, both past and current with lung disease and their families. These courageous individuals trained the entire year just for this event.
After the races, the festivities continued with a live band (Vivid Rhythm), bungee jumping, clowns, face painters, massages, free food, Coors beer, a Father’s Day drawing & more.
Funds raised by the Foundation enables the hospital to provide care to some of the area’s neediest residents. Saint Joseph Hospital operates three charity care clinics on campus. The Caritas Clinic provides general internal medicine and surgery to adult patients, Family Medicine Center provides general medical care to a population ranging from pediatric to geriatric patients and Seton Women’s Center provides obstetrical and gynecological care to women. The three on-campus clinics provide care for more than 30,000 patient visits each year for low-income, uninsured patients. The Foundation also provides funding support for clinic patients that are in need of specialty care.
