The Denver Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (DHCC) presented the 2007 Golf Invitational on Wednesday, July 11. This tournament is an annual event serving as an opportunity for members to network out of the office and on the green at one of Denver's most beautiful and private courses, The Inverness Golf Club.Registration started at 6:00 a.m. with a shotgun start at 7:30. Lunch, sponsored by First Bank, and an award presentation was presented at 12:30 after everyone finished their golf rounds. The tournament format was a four player scramble. Players had the opportunity to purchase $20 mulligans and raffle tickets during registration, the proceeds of which will be used to benefit the Hispanic Chamber Education Foundation.
During the luncheon, Luis Canela, the sports anchor at Univision Colorado, raffled off prizes for the women’s longest drive, the men’s longest drive, the women’s closest to the pin and the men’s closest to the pin. Golf prizes awarded were: 1st place – a pair of Southwest Airline tickets anywhere they fly; 2nd place - $150 gift certificate; 3rd place - $100 gift certificate; last place – tickets to a Rockies game and a set of shot glasses; Men’s Longest Drive – Oakley sunglasses; Women's Longest Drive – A golf bag; Men's Closest to the Pin - wedge golf club; Women's Closest to the Pin - women's wedge golf club; Putting Green Contest – a new putter.The door prizes presented during lunch were donated from a number of member organizations. Some of these prizes included two Southwest airline tickets, a Todd Helton autographed bat, a Matt Holliday autographed bat, a Jeff Frances autographed baseball, a Brad Hawpe autographed poster, a Rapids autographed soccer ball, an Avalanche autographed hockey stick, one night stay at The Curtis Hotel, one night stay and breakfast at The Westin Tabor Center; one night stay and dinner at The Hyatt Regency; one night stay and breakfast at The Marriott City Center and dinner for two at The Palm Restaurant.
A good time was had by all and it was a wonderful day, successful in raising funds and awareness for the DHCC. The mission of the DHCC is to promote and advance the growth of Hispanic business.
