The grounds of the DU Law Center had turned into the most elegant night of the summer.  The Debutantes of 2007 looked beautiful in their full gowns and the escorts on their arms. Try as he would, Fox 31 meteorologist and emcee for the evening Chris Dunn tried to forestall the rain, but the clouds came and the rain started to come down just as the procession was about to begin. But that did not dampen the spirits of the participants or the festivities.  This evening marked only the second time in 30 years that the rain and particularly the lightning affected the proceedings, but Mother Nature seemed to honor the Debutantes in other ways instead.

When the guests first arrived, the Debutantes were doing their last minute primping.  "Is my hair ok, how about my make up?"  Of course they all looked beautiful from the start.  In the corner you could see one Debutante practicing with her father how to waltz.  Others were practicing how to wave to the guests.  And others just took the time to relax and consider the future events that the night had in store. As the ladies and their escorts made their way from the building into the tent, each girl had a smile that was brighter than any rainbow outside.

Once inside the tent the music was playing and the girls were ready for the formal introductions.  They all looked so beautiful the escorts helped to create the perfect Prince Charming. 2007 will go into the history books as a wonderful evening for presenting 31 lovely young ladies into society.  The 2007 Debutantes are: Miss Kelley Marie Andersen, Miss Caitlyn Ann Bell, Miss Katherine Elizabeth Bell, Miss Kylie Kyanne Borgias, Miss Alexa Leigh Carpenter, Miss Chelsey Barrett Coles, Miss Melanie Lynn Colman, Miss Brianna Renee Dix, Miss Amanda Elizabeth Foulk, Miss Hillary Ann Fronk, Miss Andrea May Gordon, Miss Alexandra Yvonne Hansen, Miss Nicole Lynn Hemstad, Miss Amy Christine King, Miss Stephanie Flinn Kort, Miss Emily Jordan Lozow, Miss Ellese Sedwick McKenney, Miss Alyssa Danielle May, Miss Jennifer Lee Miller, Miss Margaret Anne Morton, Miss Casey Diane Orzech, Miss Jill Marie Petre, Miss Erica Lynn Radke, Miss Marissa Marie Sampias, Miss Allison Kate Scholbe, Miss Danielle Kristen SellersMiss Callie Oakes Sexton, Miss Anita Chelsey Stone, Miss Catharine Amanda Tilton, Miss Katherine Elizabeth Ferguson Wong, Miss Sarah Faye Zanotti.

The Fine Arts Citizen of the Arts award was presented posthumously to Carol Gossard, longtime community supporter and advocate. Although she was supposed to be in the procession, she was there in spirit nevertheless.

The Fine Arts Foundation has raised and distributed over $1 million in funds to a broad array of cultural arts organizations in the Denver metro area since 1986. This past year, grants were awarded to the following organizations: Arapahoe Philharmonic, ArtReach, Inc., Central City Opera House Association, Colorado Children’s Chorale, Colorado Symphony Orchestra, Colorado Youth Symphony Orchestras, Denver Art Museum, Denver Lyric Opera Guild, Denver Young Artists Orchestra, Englewood Arts, Golden Eagle Brass Band, Jefferson Symphony Orchestra, John Philip Sousa Band of Colorado, KBDI, Channel 12 Public Television, Museum of Contemporary Art / Denver, Opera Colorado, Paragon Theatre Company, Strings in the Mountains, St. Martin’s Chamber Choir, The Denver Brass, The Denver Center for the Performing Arts, The Friends of the Denver School of the Arts, University of Denver, Up Close and Musical, Young Audiences, Young Musicians Foundation of Colorado, Young Voices of Colorado.

This is a truly amazing accomplishment. It is obvious that through fundraisers like the Summer Debutante Ball, Citizen for the Arts Awards and the Fine Arts Jubilee, Fine Arts Foundation cultivates and supports a truly diverse artistic community.
