The Colorado tennis community celebrated the accomplishments of five individuals with their induction into the Colorado Tennis Hall of Fame, at the 10th annual Colorado Hall of Fame Gala.  The event was held Friday, January 29, 2010 at the Marriott Denver Tech Center.

In addition to honoring the inductees, USTA Colorado presented its 2009 Annual Awards to players, organizations and volunteers who have distinguished themselves through their dedication and commitment to the sport. Event proceeds benefit the Colorado Youth Tennis Foundation, a fundraising arm of USTA Colorado, that provides tennis opportunities to youngsters in need across the state.

The Colorado Tennis Association is an organization that promotes the sport through activities that develop skills and enjoyment for players of all ages and abilities. CTA provides programs such as: sanctioned tournaments, junior development programs, adult and junior leagues, grants for local tennis programs, and programs for the physically challenged.

Guests gathered in the reception area were greeted by old and new friends and family, and great feelings of welcome. As the cocktail hour ensued, handshakes, hugs, and smiles were given generously. Mixing and mingling, enjoying a drink, reminiscing the past and thinking about present tennis events, the cocktail hour was a success.

The first honorees of the evening, Madison Gallegos, Javier Zimudio and Kiera Jackson, Youth Tennis Scholarship awardees, were introduced by Matt Morr, former Youth Tennis Scholarship recipient.  Matt shared personal experiences that were enhanced by his life-long involvement with tennis, starting when he was 5, then playing competitively through high school and college.  He is a Denver attorney.

For a list of all the honorees for the evening, see "honorees" above. And so another successful year of tennis is in the record books, and everyone is looking forward to the next season. For more information about the Colorado Youth Tennis Foundation, log on to www.coloradotennis.com.
