"Music for all...for life!™" This is the vision of the Rocky Mountain Center for the Musical Arts. Saturday's fifth annual "Crescendo!" benefit was the first year since the RMCMA merged with the Colorado Music Festival (CMF).
"Together we will pursue our mission of inspiring and connecting community members of all ages by providing access to the best of the world's music through education and performance," said Crescendo co-chairs Louise Christopher and Pris Walker. Saturday's event was an astounding success for pushing forward their combined mission.
Over 100 businesses and individuals contributed to the silent auction. The auctioned items were presented in adjacent rooms for guests. Bids were placed while enjoying live performances by Nancy Brace and RMCMA students.
After the silent auction, guests were seated in the main ballroom for dinner. Mike Hooker, former student of RMCMA and the Northern Newsroom Reporter of CBS4 began the dinner with a welcome and introductions. The guests were treated to a video of Michael Christie, Music Director for the Colorado Music Festival.
Following the video, guests enjoyed live musical performances. Five-year old Casey charmed the crowd with her violin and vocal version of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow." This was followed by alumnus Zac Garcia and current student Casey Rosenberg. Emcee Mike Hooker interluded by talking about the importance of the program. With the encouragement of Zac Garcia, supporters raised their bidding numbers to pledge thousands of dollars in generous contributions to the program. The generous support of RMCMA's business partners was acknowledged, followed by more live performances from Marcelo Sanches, the Mountain Music Duo and the RMCMA Jazz Combo. The guests were delighted to see Mike Hooker, the emcee of the evening join in on the closing musical performance.
