Colorado's chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes' inaugural Partnership Banquet scored big with legendary college coach Bobby Bowden as featured speaker and guest. Coach Bowden, on the short list of “winningest coaches of all time,” signed his new book Called to Coach: Reflections on Life, Faith and Football, amiably chatted and posed for photos with admiring fans and then spoke to the crowd of 300. Other entertainment? Not needed with Bowden’s captivating personality, style and message.
The evening began with a VIP reception and autograph session focusing on Coach Bowden’s new book—a few Florida State University fans and alumni also brought their own football memorabilia for his signature. Guests were treated to appetizers and beverages, and had a chance to chat and mingle before adjourning to sample a hearty buffet dinner. As expected, Coach Bowden wowed the crowd with his words of wisdom. Money raised from the event goes directly to Colorado FCA programs.
FCA State Director Lee James conveyed his enthusiasm for Coach Bowden, the group's members and guests in attendance, as well as the hospitality offered by the INVESCO Field at Mile High staff. The event was held on the stadium's United Club Level. Another FCA staff member said that the purpose of the banquet was a chance to bless their partners, provide updates for all and invite others to become a part of the Colorado chapter. The congenial atmosphere was especially conducive for greeting old friends and meeting new ones.
