ChildSafe, a community based resource for abused children, hosted a full house at their ArtThrives event at the Fort Collins Country Club on Friday night. Attendees bid on a large variety of art in both live and silent auctions. One of the auction tables contained art work from ChildSafe child clients. The art on this table raised hundreds of dollars. Bidding was fast and furious in both the live and silent auction. Auctioneer Jeff Sweeney entertained the crowd while he encouraged them to support this worthy cause. Twenty-five dollars bought both a glass of champagne and a raffle ticket for a trip to Aruba, which was donated by Roger and Brenda Jensen of Prudential Rocky Mountain Realtors.
Guitarist Dave Hill provided the musical score for the evening. Guests enjoyed a wonderful dinner presented by the country club. At the end of the dinner, speaker Liz Johnson moved the crowd to tears during her emotionally moving speech which told about her abuse as a child and how the ChildSafe staff worked with her so that she could overcome the abuse of her past and become an emotionally healthy young woman.
A the end of the evening the raffle was held for the trip to Aruba and the very excited Erin Busch claimed her prize.
ChildSafe has worked in Fort Collins to support children abused both physically and sexually for 25 years. Treating over 500 clients last year alone, ChildSafe reaches many victims of abuse including children and their families and the adult victims of childhood abuse.
