The Flight to Luxury, benefitting the Boys and Girls Clubs of Metro Denver, was held Thursday, September 22, at the Jet Linx Denver Suite and Hangar at Centennial Airport. Presented by Cuvee Ventures and Jet Linx Denver, guests walked the Red Carpet to a showcase of the world's most elite destination villas, luxurious private aircraft, exotic and prized classic vehicles, and some of Denver's best restaurants.
The evening began with a silent auction, as guests sampled beverages from Grey Goose, Silver Oak vineyard and Arta Tequilas. A delicious menu featured jumbo shrimp, grilled lamb, petite filet mignon sandwiches, mini crab cakes, and pork with polenta from Del Frisco, Morton's and The Kitchen, as well as an array of desserts from Strings. As the guests browsed the silent auction items and strolled among the exotic automobiles from Ferrari of Denver and luxury aircraft from Jet Linx and ONEFlight, they were entertained by the eclectic and beautiful music of Maestro Jeffrey Hughes and DJ Malone.
Throughout the evening the kids from the Boys and Girls Club met and mingled with the guests, reminding them why everyone was there. Guests toured ONEFlight's private jet, with the opportunity to see the cockpit and luxurious passenger compartment. Or they got information about The Placencia, an exclusive resort in Belize. Then, with the backdrop of a beautiful Colorado sunset, the guests moved into the Hangar and took seats for the evening's program.
Brooke Rogers, of CBS4, was the mistress of ceremonies for the evening and she kicked things off by introducing a short film about one the kids who has benefitted greatly from her time in the Boys and Girls club. Larry Mueller and Jeffrey Puckett, of presenting sponsors Cuvee Ventures and Jet Linx, then explained to the audience the importance of their involvement with the Boys and Girls Clubs. When they finished speaking, John Arigoni, president of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Metro Denver, and the kids from the clubs came onstage and let the crowd know how grateful they were for everyone's support.
Then Rogers introduced auctioneer Gary Corbett, who put up for bid some exclusive and exciting items, vacation packages put together exclusively for the event by donors Cuvee Ventures, Jet Linx, The Placencia Belize, and ONEFlight, among others. Among the items, a helicopter trip to the Vail Valley with a stay in a luxury residence raised $25,000, a week in Los Cabos $28,000, and an exclusive vacation to New York City went for $25,000. Then Corbett called on the audience to support the Clubs by direct donation, and with almost everyone in the room participating, raised approximately $50,000 more, bringing the total raised for the evening to around $150,000.
After the auction, guests were treated to a fashion show produced by Cynthia Petrus, featuring vacation-inspired couture from Larimer Square boutiques Mariel, Roxy, Cry Baby Ranch, A. Tsagas, Eve's and Moda, with hair by OXO scruples. When the fashion show ended, guests sampled coffee and desserts from Caribou Coffee, Pinkberry, and Gigi's Cupcakes.
