Can you imagine living on only $700 to $900 per month? Many of the senior clients of HealthSET live at this level of poverty. HealthSET provides a number of health based services for low income seniors, including monthly health and wellness clinics in 19 rent-subsidized senior high rise complexes in Denver. In addition, the Nurse Care Management Program provides case management for clients with complicated health histories. During the holiday season HealthSET also runs an Adopt an Elder For the Holidays program, providing cheer to those clients who are lacking family support.
The work that HealthSET does encourages independent living and reduces the number of emergency visits and hospital stays among their clients.
The HealthSET staff and volunteers worked hard to present their annual event Let's Groove Tonight, an evening of food, music and art at the Wellshire Inn in Denver. The weather cooperated and cocktails and appetizers were served outdoors on the patio, while the sounds of guitar added to the ambience. Guests were able to enjoy the sunset as they served themselves at the outdoor buffet. Artist Devin Montagne painted throughout the evening, creating a performance art piece which was the grand prize in a raffle. Using his hands to paint, Devin created a large spiritual work.
Janine Gracy and Shelley Leyba Cale welcomed the guests to the event. Marian Stumpf gave a heartwrenching history of one of the clients she became especially close to. Rick Schick talked about the important work HealthSET does and discussed the importance of fundraising.
To wrap the evening up guests danced the night away to the music of the band Jakarta.
