Mary Noone is able to continue as a very talented artist, thanks to UCH neurology department
It means the world to Mary Noone to share her artistic talent with those around her, so when her Parkinson's Disease progressed to the point where it was a major interference, it was potentially devastating. Enter University of Colorado Hospital Neurology Department. Mary now has a very nifty device called a deep brain stimulator, and her shaking and major side effects of her affliction are virtually gone and she can live her life as the wonderful artist that she is.
Mary and thousands of others just like her--one client was able to return to his life's passion as a volunteer paramedic--are the reason why Pete and Marilyn Coors and Sharon Magness Blake decided the University of Colorado Hospital neuroscience program was a great recipient of the Hearts of All Ages event.
The Coors always had mixed emotions about leaving their children behind as they went out to celebrate Valentine's Day. So with the help of some special community philanthropists, including Sharon Magness Blake, the Hearts of All Ages event was born. Now the entire family celebrates Valentine's Day together, and at the same time promotes the very important mission of the University of Colorado Hospital Neurology and Neurosurgery programs.
Their neuroscience specialists treat a range of brain conditions including Alzheimer’s disease, brain tumors, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease and stroke.
More than 1,260 guests of all ages convened at the Wings Over the Rockies Air and Space Musuem to support UCH, participate in the Candyland corner, bid on great silent and live auction items, and say hello to characters like Batman and Princess Rapunzil.
Emcee Ed Greene returned as program navigator, while event co-chairs Pete Coors and Steve Bangert thanked everyone for spending their special Valentine's Day with them.
