 Wine Time Saturday Night

If a poll was taken in Denver today, one of the most beloved charity events would be, hands-down, any thing connected to Children’s Hospital Colorado. In one way or another, this eminent organization has touched everyone’s life in our city. That’s why it’s an important and well supported organization. Children’s Hospital allows everyone a good night's sleep just knowing it is here.

Saturday night’s sold out Wine Event is one of the most anticipated and well-attended occasions on the calendar. Think of it this way. All that fine wine to taste, exceptional auction items from getaways to horse racing, vineyard visits, exquisite single vintage, collectible bottled wines, and one of the best of causes, children. What’s not to love?

A round of applause please for Phipps McCarthy, who was the 2012 presenting sponsor. Kudos to co-chairs Jean Bitzer and Heather Lurie, the two dynamos who presided over the event and insured the evening’s program was executed with style and attention to detail. The Volunteer of the Year honor went to Jeremy Dreiling for his tireless work and dedication for helping children.

Capitalizing on the theme of the fundraiser, sipping wine, the attendees also marveled at the amazing array of dazzling auction items, but what really mattered was the children and how to better take care of them; how to keep them alive and bring them into the world as healthy little beings. Dr. Timothy Crombleholme, Surgeon-in-Chief, and recognized leader in fetal and pediatric surgery, offered kudos to the accomplishments in pre-natal care by explaining how mothers and children alike are in good hands at Children’s. The expertly skilled doctors at Children's strive to assure that all babies in utero, or, in their mother’s arms, are provided with the best and highest available skills in the world of pediatrics. Who could ever have imagined a successful operation performed on a tiny fetus only three months old. Today it can be accomplished and, it is accomplished in what many see as nothing short of a miracle.

When the hospital was founded in 1908, it set out to be a leader in providing the best healthcare outcomes for children. That calling has consistently made Children's one of the top 10 children's hospitals in the nation.

As bids were logged, wine sipped, appetizers enjoyed, the guests relaxed and sat down to a scrumptious dinner with a perfectly paired wine for the main course, exquisite dessert and aperitif. It was a beautiful evening for what is cherished most - our children.
