There isn't a more noble cause than promoting a healthy lifestyle--working toward that goal promotes fitness, positive thinking and productive behavior. There's no room in that scenario for drugs, alcohol abuse or violent behavior, and so in promoting this mission, the First American State Bank Fitness Festival helps participants both immediately and long-term.
Co-founders Jay and Kristina Davidson (he's the CEO of First American State Bank) have been perfecting this incredible event over the past 12 years and have raised more than $765,000 up to this year. An announcement was made at the patron party on Thursday, held for sponsors and supporters at FASB in Greenwood Village, that the event is surpassing the $143,000 mark in corporate fundraising revenue for this year, a new record.
Proceeds fund the Community Asset Project (CAP), which is a partner with the Cherry Creek School District. The Festival includes the officially timed Rocky Vista University 5K walk/run and the Kaiser Permanente 1K fitness walk, plus food samplings from some of the top restaurants, entertainment, silent auction and other surprises. The grand marshal for this year's event is Olympic snowboarder Chris Klug.
The patron party was a great way for supporters to be thanked and recognized. Emcee Creigh Kelley, a USA Running Hall of Fame inductee, set the pace. Fitness Festival co-chair Lyn Schaffer said a few words of thanks, along with Jay Davidson and other major sponsors--Dr. Bruce Dubin of Rocky Vista University and Mike Cummins of Kaiser Permanente . Cherry Creek Schools Superintendent Mary Chesley joined in giving kudos for all the festival does for students and their families.
The Festival will be on Saturday September 8 beginning at 7:30 a.m. at Crescent Park in Greenwood Village (Belleview and DTC Boulevard). Silent auction items will also be available on Blacktie-Colorado beginning August 1.
