On a beautiful Colorado morning, runners were up with the birds to participate in the Third Annual Harvest Farm 5K.  Over one hundred runners and walkers completed a 5K course which wound around the 200 acres of the Denver Rescue Mission Harvest Farm which is located in Wellington, Colorado.  Harvest Farm is a working farm, which houses an adult rehabilitation center for men looking to make a postive life change outside city bounds. Up to 72 residents work at the farm for a period of up to two years.  Pinto beans, sugar beets and a variety of garden vegetables are grown on the farm. Livestock is reared as well.

Finishing first with a time of 17.15 was Clint Reading of Cheyenne, Wyoming.  The second and third place finishers were Stephen Sleeby and Lucas Ness.  The first place female was Tracey Jensen, with a time of 21.19.  Tracey is from Wellington, Colorado.  The second and third place female finishers were Briana Cathcart and Gidget Cathcart, both from Fort Collins. 107 runners finished the race. After the race participants received gift bags and a tshirt. Wagon tours of Harvest Farm were given as well.

Big Country Radio 97.9 morning show host Sadie Koehler was the race starter and congratulated runners as they crossed the finish line.

Donating products to the race were; Cascadian Farm, GoFast, Michael's of Denver, Rocky Mountain Sunscreen, ChinookBook coupns, SOYJOY, Oogie Gourmet Popcorn, Rev7 Gum, Coda Cofffee, Crocs, and Colorado Aromatics.

Harvest Farm is a ministry of the Denver Rescue Mission which was originally founded in 1892 as a women's only rescue in Denver.  Over the intervening years the mission has expanded to serve a broad group of clients through a variety of programs.
