Ahh... Quelle nuit merveilleuse d'être à Paris...
Except, this was actually a wonderful night in downtown Denver for the 3rd Annual AMC Dinner in White. Guests arrived in elegant to casual to wondefully whimsical summer white attire, carrying picnic baskets, bags and totes filled with delightful goodies to dine on. Wine, cocktails and dessert were provided by the hosts. Bringing one's own picnic basket dinner is just part of the fun; not knowing the secret location until an hour before the event is the other part. This year's secret location was at 17th & Blake in downtown, with one whole block being turned into a lively Paris-style party, complete with a white Eiffel Tower and an Arc de Triomphe - filled with bottles of wine, of course.
The host for this festive evening was the AMC Cancer Fund, to raise funds and awareness for Cancer research at the University of Colorado Cancer Center. The University of Colorado Cancer Center is the only National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center in the Rocky Mountain region, one of only 40 in the country.
Raising money for a "world without cancer" has taken on a whole new attitude with the Dinner in White event. Even the spectators looking on from the sidewalks of Denver were all smiles, watching this joyful crowd- right out of Paris- dining, dancing and playing for a cause. And seeing hundreds of white balloons rise up into the beautiful deep blue evening sky, while honoring all of those whose lives have been touched by cancer, was pretty spectacular too.
