The Clinica Tepeyac Fiesta 2012 event featured a terrific Mexican buffet with a green chile grilled chicken breast, tequila marinated sirloin, cilantro lime rice and charro beans for dinner, followed by sweet cream and berries for dessert. Silent and live auctions kept guests busy as they were entertained by an impressive array of Latin-flavored entertainment, including musical exerpts from Su Teatro’s highly acclaimed performance of Chicanos Sing the Blues.
Fiesta 2012 recognized Clínica Tepeyac’s contributors, affiliates and advocates whose support has helped the clinic care for more than 6,000 clients, and more than 16,000 patient visits annually. More than 600 guests, a 25% increase over prior years attendance, helped to celebrate Clínica Tepeyac’s legacy of service to the region’s under and uninsured. Staffed with the help of volunteer medical personnel, Clínica Tepeyac offers outpatient care and a host of preventive health education programs. Located in Denver’s Globeville neighborhood, Clínica Tepeyac provides medical care and mental health services for men, women, children and teens.
Since 1994, Clínica Tepeyac has provided basic and preventive health care and health education to tens of thousands of uninsured residents across the Metro Area—serving as a critical safety net for those in need and minimizing the collective impact of the uninsured on the region’s public health system.
The emcees for the evening were Gregg Moss and Belen De Leon from 9 News. Jim Garcia, the executive director/founder gave introductory remarks, and then Terry Minger of the Piton Foundation introduced Denver Mayor Michael Hancock. Jim Garcia presented the Community Partner Award to Mental Health America Colorado, and the Jim and Gloria Garcia Founders Award for Outstanding Volunteer Service to Chris Chrisman. A special presentation of 'Volver, Volver' by emcee Belen De Leon from 9 News capped the evening.
