More than 750 guests were in attendance at Tribute to Leadership, the Mental Health America of Colorado gala, which was held at the downtown Denver Sheraton. The event recognized the leadership of Caring For Colorado Foundation; The Colorado Health Foundation; The Colorado Trust and the Denver Foundation for the work they do in the field of mental health awareness and their contributions to the Status of Behavioral Health Care in Colorado, 2011. Dr. Carl Clark was also recognized individually for his leadership in the mental health field.
The evening opened with a busy silent auction and then it was time for dinner. MHAC trainer Bianca Mikahn performed her poetry for the crowd. Donald Mares, President & CEO, welcomed the crowd and thanked the sponsors for their partnership in a unique celebration and explained how the work of the MHAC was making a difference. Mental Health America has a long history in this field and is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year.
Dr. Carl Clark was recognized as the 2012 Tribute to Leadership honoree, along with Caring for Colorado Foundation, The Colorado Health Foundation, The Colorado Trust and The Denver Foundation.
Colorado has had a very difficult six months, with the wildfires, the Aurora shootings and the recent child abduction. The MHAC website has a variety of resources available on its website, including Tips for Talking to Children and Youth after Traumatic Events which may be of help for your family.
