ArtReach works to "change lives through the arts" and its biggest fundraiser is the Dine & D'art annual dinner which will be occurring on March 9th, 2013 at the Mile High Station. Monday night at Cableland, the official Denver Mayor's residence, the art was hung and the patrons of the arts were excited to see a preview of some of the art that will be available in March. Artists, volunteers, staff and art patrons mingled and enjoyed the music of the Colorado Conservatory Jazz trio. Cableland was a wonderful site for the event, after its recent renovation. The money that will be raised at Dine & D'art will be used to increase access to the arts and culture through ticket distribution, transportation to arts events and hands-on art programs.
ArtReach is a non-profit which was established in 1974 and provides art experiences to over 70,000 people each year. For clients who may be suffering a variety of challenges, an art experience can be extremely uplifting.
Dine & D'art is a unique fundraiser. Donors purchase tickets to attend the event and wait anxiously for their name to be called during the evening. The art is hung and everyone gets a chance to preview the art. Then names are called every 20 seconds and donors literally run to claim the piece of art they are interested in. Suitable footwear is recommended.
At last night's event, the Ginger Merrelli Award was awarded posthumously to Sharon Gravelle and the Art Star Award was presented to Betty Emmanuel. Betty had many proud family members in attendance. Board President Denise Seery thanked everyone for coming to the event and encouraged them to purchase tickets for DIne & D'art. Karla Johnson-Grimes, the Executive DIrector talked about the award winners.
