On your mark, Get set, Go... Invesco Field at Mile High may not have been hosting a football or soccer game Sunday morning but that didn't mean that there weren't competitive athletes ready to use their strong legs.
It was the annual Stadium Stampede to benefit the St. Joseph Hospital Foundation! Hundreds of athletic runners came to run while hundreds of strong supporters came to enjoy a relaxing run or walk also. People of all ages gathered bright and early to participate in this year's Stadium Stampede. There were three races that kept everyone moving throughout the morning including the Mike Shaw 5K, the Saint Joseph Hospital Foundation 5K walk and Exempla Healthcare 1K Kids Fun Run.
Just in case these three races weren't enough to wear everyone out, there were several activities throughout the day as well. These included great food and refreshments, a balloon artist, a blow up jumping cage and the exciting Broncos Mini Camp for Kids with Bronco players teaching passing and other football.
9News meterologist, Nick Carter, was excited to cheer racers on and Denver Bronco football player, Micah Knorr was the official starter of the day's race.
The Stadium Stampede raises money for charity programs at Saint Joseph Hospital Foundation and other charitable organizations in Denver. The pace of the runners this year was as impressive as the success of the Stampede!
