The eighth annual "fish fest" was a sold-out success!
There was nothing fishy about the Red Wine and Seafood? Of course! fundraiser, held at McCormick’s Fish House & Bar on January 29th. The Grand ballroom at the Oxford was packed to the gills with a sold-out crowd, raising approximately $9,000, benefiting the Volunteers of America Guild.
The eighth annual fish fest was chaired by Diana Murdy and Irene Zarlengo and co-chaired by McCormick’s GM Julie Muise and Executive Chef Stephen Vice.
Guests feasted on lobster and caviar latte; blackened roulade of prime rib with crawfish, andouille sausage and pecan stuffing; shiitake crusted Thresher shark with bay shrimp Bordelaise; cashew crusted Tilapia with Jamaican rum butter sauce; Diver Sea scallop and Portobello mushrooms wrapped in caul fat over saffron risotto; horseradish crusted salmon with vodka broth; pancetta wrapped Monkfish with white bean cassoulet and assorted baked oysters on the half shell – and that was just the seafood! For each entrée, there was a red wine to accompany it, donated by Southern Wine & Spirits of Colorado.
In the midst of the tasting, The Jazz Machine, a quartet fronted by Frontier's Andrew Hudson, played a jazzy rendition of “Happy Birthday” as McCormick's GM and event co-chair Julie Muise presented birthday girl Cathy Kruzic PR guru for McCormick's with a birthday cake. “What a great way to celebrate my day!” Cathy exclaimed.
“I love this event,” said Maryann Yuthas, President of the VOA Guild. “Each year the selection is different and it is always fabulous!”
