Children's Winter Workshops
  Gingerbread Construction Zone

Making gingerbread houses and gingerbread men are always fun holiday activities. This year, let us provide the supplies and clean up the mess! Use our gingerbread, myriad of candies and icings to build your sweet creations.

Cost is $10.

  Intro to Paper Making and Holiday Decorations
Dates: Three Tuesdays Nov 19th, Dec 3rd and 10th
Time: 4:00PM - 7:00PM

This workshop offers an introduction to the paper making process, including how to pull sheets of paper, as well as various paper making and artistic techniques that will result in wonderful 3D holiday ornaments. Sessions include lectures, demonstrations, viewing of works online, and hands-on experimentation. Students will learn fun and simple ways to recycle, reuse, and repurpose paper.
Age Range: 10-16+ years old parents welcome

  Japanese Sumi-e and modern watercolor techniques with Brooke Stoyer
Dates: January 2-4 (3 afternoons, Wednesday-Friday)
Time: 1-4pm
Fees: $96/$84 (FAC members).
Location: The Library (above the Main Gallery) at Foothills Art Center
Students will about Japanese Art, calligraphy, and signature stamps through painting bamboo, animals, and people, using simple brushstrokes and create a personalized rubber stamp signature.   Pointillism Painting with Brooke Stoyer
Dates: January 5 & 6 (2 afternoons, Saturday & Sunday)
Time: 1-4pm
Fees: $70/$62 (FAC members)
Location: Petersen Classroom
Seurat, Van Gogh, and Chuck Close all use small dots (Pointillism) to create magical works of art. Students will create acrylic paintings using primary colors and learn different designs that allow the eyes blend color. For more information on Kids Classes, please go to www.foothillsartcenter.org

  The Art of Scratchboard with Brooke Stoyer
Dates: December 26, 27, 28 (3 afternoons, Wednesday-Friday)
Time: 1-4pm
Fees: $96/$84 (FAC members)
Location: The Library (above the Main Gallery) at Foothills Art Center
Students will learn scratching techniques such as cross-hatching, stippling and bracelet shading while exploring symbols and images in Ancient Art.
